  • Eco-friendly Packaging Protects and Helps Customers Identifiy High Steel Service Center's Products

    Eco Freindly Packaging

The High Steel Service Center logo is now stenciled on new 100% corner edge protectors and protective paper used to package its skids of steel shipped to its customers. This enables customers to easily recognize the source of their materials and provides an added quality measure by providing protection for the product.

  • High Steel Service Center - Practicing Sustainability Every Day

High Steel Service Center takes sustainability seriously by reducing waste generated, reusing materials and recycling. The company recycles 14 different materials, including scrap plastic from steel coil rings and wood waste from scrap pallets.

The company converts plastic rings into I.D. protectors for the processed steel coil leaving the facility. Excess rings are stored on site and sent out with corrugated cardboard and office paper for recycling. The wood pallets are reused as long as possible. Once the pallets are past their life cycle, the scrap wood is sorted and any pieces that can be reused are saved. The unusable scrap wood is stored on site where an outside firm comes to the facility and chips the wood, converting the scrap into mulch.

High Steel Service Center Earth Day sustainability practices included collecting compact fluorescent light bulbs and batteries that co-workers brought in from home. These materials were recycled through the Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority.
