High Industries Completes 70th Anniversary Year With Statewide Recognition
Friday, November 30, 2001

LANCASTER, PA – High Industries, Inc., one of the largest employers in central Pennsylvania, was recently honored as #29 of the “100 Best Places To Work” in Pennsylvania, at an awards dinner in Harrisburg on November 29. The award completes a year in which the company celebrated its 70th Anniversary, and demonstrates High’s commitment to building trustworthy relationships with their more than 2,800 co-workers.

According to Dale High, President and Chief Executive Officer of High Industries, Inc., the company may be large and diverse today, but has worked hard to retain the essential character of a family-owned, Lancaster-based business that has made a commitment to staying close to its co-workers. “My father, Sanford High, taught me the importance of caring for every member of the team. Our co-workers’ spirit, know-how and hard work have made this company strong, stable and ready for the future,” High stated. “This award will be a valuable tool for continuing to attract and retain great people like these,” he said.

The “100 Best Places To Work” survey and award program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Pennsylvania benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce and businesses. A scientific survey was sent to the employers and the employees in which the data collected was used to rank the participating companies and determine the top companies. High Industries, Inc. was honored as #29 in the “Large Size Companies” category, for those employing more than 250 people.

In addition to this recent award, High Industries, Inc. celebrated their 70th anniversary by renewing their connections to the company’s past. Earlier this year, the High family purchased an historic property located at 27 West Lemon Street in downtown Lancaster, and one with significant connections to their family, as well. High Welding Company, the forerunner of today’s High Industries, Inc. was started at this location in 1931 by the late Sanford H. High.

Today, High Industries, Inc. is one of the largest employers in Lancaster County with a total of more than 2,800 co-workers. High Industries, Inc. provides a diverse group of products and services to customers across the eastern United States including steel bridges; concrete parking garages and wall panels; carbon steel products; construction; real estate services; hotels; commercial food services; and safety consulting.
